A prenatal yoga class is specifically organized around the mother, preparing her body and mind for the birth of her child. These classes are designed to encourage each mom to find their unique physical ability through movement of yoga asanas, stretching, mental/physical centering and focused breathing. Prenatal yoga classes help you to build the strength necessary to prepare your body for labor, delivery and recovery. Practicing prenatal yoga will also help you to recover after the birth of your baby. Our certified Prenatal yoga instructors can help guide you so that you may better cope with your body's physical needs and emotional changes through out your pregnancy, as well as after the birth of your baby.
Research suggests that prenatal yoga is safe and can have many benefits for pregnant women and their babies. Yoga is a wonderful way to bond with your baby while he/she is in the womb. In a prenatal yoga class there is the community of other new mom's-to-be learning to connect with their changing bodies and new babies. We encourage gentle yoga postures that are both standing and seated, breath work, and relaxation in your mind & body. No prior yoga experience is needed. Come and enjoy the relaxing experience of our studio; bond with your baby, meet other new mom's, daydream, honor the life growing with in you and honor yourself.

A postnatal yoga class is different in that you are recovering from the birth of your baby and not preparing for birth. This class is specifically designed and organized around the thought of the mother repairing and healing her body. A postnatal yoga class helps the mom to return to her new normal self, acknowledging her physical changes and mental/emotional shifts. We encourage yoga postures that help you return to a strong and healthy body and heal from the birth process. Our trained instructors will guide you in yoga postures and breath work that helps you to stay focused and relaxed so you can nourish yourself.
I have been a member of Purple Blossom for almost 3 years. I came to the studio not knowing a single pose or much about the philosophy and yet after each class I felt drawn more and more to yoga and the atmosphere at PB. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to learn and practice yoga in a beautiful environment with great teachers. Their experience has helped me advance my practice and achieve many goals.
