Yoga can be an intimidating practice for those who are new to the ancient form of exercise. There are hundreds of poses that require you to contort your body into positions that, outside of a yoga studio, you may never be tempted to try or expect to find yourself in. At Purple Blossom Yoga Studio in Greenville, we are sensitive to the anxiety that may surround new students and make every effort to help you become a confident yogi. Practicing yoga is a great way to develop a healthy lifestyle. All it takes to embark on your journey is sign up for a class at Purple Blossom Yoga Studio.
Yoga is also an incredibly inclusive practice. We modify the yoga poses we teach at Purple Blossom Yoga Studio to accommodate the needs of absolutely any individual. Of course, before you can become proficient in yoga you have to learn how to get started.
You won't become a yogi after just one day in a Greenville yoga studio. Developing a yoga-centered lifestyle takes years, but that doesn't mean you can't benefit from yoga at an introductory level. Yoga for beginners can help you to manage stress and get in shape.
At any intensity level, yoga delivers certain benefits, including benefits to your mental and physical health. Yoga can help you tone muscle and lose weight while encouraging great stress management and meditation.
Don't let your first yoga class intimidate you. To get started at Purple Blossom Yoga Studio all you need is:
When you take your first yoga class at Purple Blossom Yoga Studio in Greenville, you may not know all of the poses. There is no need to study before you see us for the first time in order to feel comfortable at the front of the class. If you're not ready to take center stage, just set up your mat in the middle or back of the room and keep an eye & ear on the teacher in the class. By listening to your teacher and watching, you can know what each of the poses are as you transition into them. Our instructors are there to assist you as needed. A yoga practice is meant to build inner heat so you may feel warm during your class, this is normal. Trust your intuition, listen to your body & rest as needed. Please feel free to ask your teacher any questions about your yoga poses. We are here to help!
If you are a Beginner Yoga student, and want to try a hot yoga class here at Purple Blossom Yoga we want you to be comfortable with your practice. But, if you have a good feel for yoga sun salutations A & B then you may be ready to enjoy a hot practice. We have an All Levels Hot Yoga class on Mondays at 7:30pm just for you. It's 75 minutes of a moving sweaty yoga practice but with more instructions from the teacher so you learn as you go.
If you are taking our hot yoga class, add a yoga mat towel or a regular hand towel to the list above. In hot yoga class you will typically begin to sweat, and yoga mats may become slippery as they get wet.
Yoga is an inviting, meditational and even spiritual experience that can help you get in shape and tone muscle. Don't let yourself feel too intimidated by any preconceived notions about the practice. As a welcoming practice, you can rest assured that any class you find will be inviting and inclusive, helping you to feel as comfortable as possible.
I have never taken a formal yoga class before and my first experience was venturing to take the aerial yoga class at Purple Blossom Yoga Studio. The experience was very rewarding. I traditionally weight train, which is a more compressive exercise. This class was physically challenging and the ability to be weightless and to invert struck a core balance to my normal fitness routine. I felt so good the next day! I was amazed to wake up in such an alert state. I felt taller. Breathing was easier. My mind had latched on to an interest in yoga a few months ago and I?m so glad I chose the workshop. The studio and instructor were warm and very helpful. The routine was challenging yet relaxing. It left me feeling more radiant on the inside. I have decided that yoga needs to be a regular part of my routine. It fulfilled a void on all levels and I?m utterly grateful to have had the opportunity to experience this. The level of knowledge demonstrated definitely made me feel comfortable that the instructors here teach with great care to ensure you reap the full rewards of this physical art form, which is how I interpret it. I felt like I was the art medium and yoga was the conduit for its expression. I would assume everyone takes away their own unique perspective of the practice and I can only hope it also touches them on such a personal level. Although a standard gym may offer classes, having experienced yoga in an environment supporting this practice, I can sense I would be left wanting due to that lacking. It truly supports the ability to fully engage and immerse yourself in such a deeply rewarding experience. I look forward to visiting your studio in the future. Julie
I have been a member of Purple Blossom for almost 3 years. I came to the studio not knowing a single pose or much about the philosophy and yet after each class I felt drawn more and more to yoga and the atmosphere at PB. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to learn and practice yoga in a beautiful environment with great teachers. Their experience has helped me advance my practice and achieve many goals. Thanks to Purple Blossom yoga has become a part of me. Every day I look forward to take a class at the studio. Ewa
