Fly with Aerial Yoga!

Imagine flying through the air, stretching in every direction and feeling weightless as you move your body thru a collection of yoga poses. This might not sound like something you can experience in just any local yoga class, but it is something you can experience here at Purple Blossom Yoga Studio. More and more people are turning to aerial yoga for a unique and fun fitness experience.

As with any form of yoga, aerial yoga uses progressive, methodical movements to encourage strength building, flexibility, proprioception, mindfulness and meditation. As a standard practice, yoga encourages movements that flow one into another like a garden pathway; one step in front of the other. This encourages the person practicing to become more aware of their body and of the different aspects of their body and how comfortable or challenging it may be to find any one pose or a set of poses or asanas. At Purple Blossom Yoga Studio we try to create a physically challenging but mentally rewarding practice that is both therapeutic and helpful to body, mind & soul.

About Aerial Yoga

When you walk into a local yoga class at Purple Blossom Yoga Studio for aerial yoga, you’ll find fabric hammocks hanging from the ceiling. Think of these fabric ropes in the same way you would the traditional mat. In yoga, you live and breathe on your mat. During the course of a yoga class the mat becomes your world. It is up to you to find your comfort zone; balance, twist, jump and rise off the mat just enough to challenge you to be more of yourself each time you come to your mat.

As you flow through movements in our aerial yoga class, you will be wrapped within that hanging material. You’ll use the material to hold your weight off of the ground as you work through poses that are uniquely designed just for aerial yoga. We're allowed to explore ourselves a bit more in a new and lighthearted way. The hammocks are sturdy and able to hold large amounts of weight, ensuring that the practice is safe.

This Aerial Yoga class takes your yoga practice off the mat and into the air; helping you to develop more upper body and core strength. In the classes here at Purple Blossom Yoga Studio you will use and develop the basic many new skillsskills presented in the introductory classes to further explore the intersection of traditional yoga and aerial fitness. The flow will be similar to a mat based yoga class, enlivening the whole body and engaging the breath and claiming the mind. Bring your yoga practice to new heights as you  fly in ways you never thought possible!

I have never taken a formal yoga class before and my first experience was venturing to take the aerial yoga class at Purple Blossom Yoga Studio. The experience was very rewarding. I traditionally weight train, which is a more compressive exercise. This class was physically challenging and the ability to be weightless and to invert struck a core balance to my normal fitness routine. I felt so good the next day! I was amazed to wake up in such an alert state. I felt taller. Breathing was easier. My mind had latched on to an interest in yoga a few months ago and I?m so glad I chose the workshop. The studio and instructor were warm and very helpful. The routine was challenging yet relaxing. It left me feeling more radiant on the inside. I have decided that yoga needs to be a regular part of my routine. It fulfilled a void on all levels and I?m utterly grateful to have had the opportunity to experience this. The level of knowledge demonstrated definitely made me feel comfortable that the instructors here teach with great care to ensure you reap the full rewards of this physical art form, which is how I interpret it. I felt like I was the art medium and yoga was the conduit for its expression. I would assume everyone takes away their own unique perspective of the practice and I can only hope it also touches them on such a personal level. Although a standard gym may offer classes, having experienced yoga in an environment supporting this practice, I can sense I would be left wanting due to that lacking. It truly supports the ability to fully engage and immerse yourself in such a deeply rewarding experience. I look forward to visiting your studio in the future. Julie

I have been a member of Purple Blossom for almost 3 years. I came to the studio not knowing a single pose or much about the philosophy and yet after each class I felt drawn more and more to yoga and the atmosphere at PB. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to learn and practice yoga in a beautiful environment with great teachers. Their experience has helped me advance my practice and achieve many goals. Thanks to Purple Blossom yoga has become a part of me. Every day I look forward to take a class at the studio.      Ewa

Like home Absolutely love Purple Blossom! As a newbie in town, I felt welcomed. My relationship with the studio has inconcluded one year. I cannot find the words to express my immense gratitude. There is love, care, and competence in every single inch and in every single person in this studio. Go, enjoy and discover your yoga self.    Ana
